Teaching excellence

DMU boasts 12 National Teaching Fellows, the second highest in the county and testament to the university’s commitment to teaching excellence.

Facilities
DMU offers the very latest facilities and industry standard equipment, giving you the chance to gain valuable hands-on experience in real-world settings. Based in the city, DMU’s campus combines historic buildings with the latest, low carbon architecture.
Opened in 2010 the Hugh Aston Building was purpose-built for Business and Law students and offers a dedicated law library, a mock court room, computer labs and study areas.
The PACE building is home to the UK’s only higher education Centre for Excellence in Performing Arts and offers the latest dance, drama and music studios and performance and rehearsal areas.
The Game Development Studios are kitted out with powerful gaming computers, 3D technology and console and mobile devices and the latest technology for today’s and tomorrow’s gaming industry.
Pharmacy dispensing suites give students the chance to put their theory into practice while forensic science students can put their skills to the test in DMU’s crime scene house. Plus, new for 2011, Health and Life Sciences students benefit from brand new facilities.
Relax, unwind and meet up with friends in the campus centre, offering a whole range of food and drink outlets and home to the Students’ Union or work out in the gym, packed full of the latest equipment and offering a range of fitness classes. Plus, plans are underway for a brand new sports centre, comprising a swimming pool, climbing wall and much more.

Careers
DMU delivers a university experience that fully prepares students for the competitive job market, with support that continues well beyond the classroom. From employment fairs to graduate internships and from enterprise support to a whole range of careers advice DMU ensures its students graduate ready to hit the ground running and embark on exciting careers.
Graduates go on to work for the likes of the BBC, the NHS, Rolls-Royce, Sky TV, HSBC, Nike, Warner Bros and many more. They are responsible for creating iconic buildings, such as London’s ‘Gherkin’ and have worked on TV programmes including XFactor and Britain’s Got Talent.
DMU is also home to entrepreneurship with hundreds of graduates starting their own businesses each year. And, to support new companies, DMU offers a range of supported workspace, advice, support, prizes and funding to help new businesses get off the ground.

DMU is pushing the boundaries of science and medicine, it is at the forefront of the 3D gaming and television revolution and is helping to save the planet with pioneering research into carbon emissions and environmental impact. From breakthroughs in the treatment of diabetic patients to projects to predict natural disasters and computer software which allows games to be controlled by eye movements, DMU’s research is well and truly at the heart of the university.
