The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) is one of the world’s leading specialist veterinary institutions, renowned for pioneering approaches to teaching, research and cutting edge clinical provision. It is the largest, oldest and only independent veterinary school in the UK. Founded in Camden Town in 1791, it was the driving force behind the establishment of the nation’s veterinary profession. Since then, the College has been at the forefront of theory and practice in the veterinary and allied sciences.
Now spread over two campuses, the College provides approximately 1,500 students with the best of both worlds in terms of student experience. Its Camden Campus offers the buzz of being based in the heart of the nation’s capital; while in contrast, the 575 acre site near Potters Bar in Hertfordshire offers a more rural experience. Throughout both campuses, students enjoy a friendly, supportive environment with state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and learning.
Our BVetMed degree is registerable for Membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and as such is recognised within the European Union. It is also the only veterinary degree in England that is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Our BSc degrees in Bioveterinary Sciences, Veterinary Nursing, and MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy are all unique. We also run a number of other taught postgraduate degrees such as Veterinary Epidemiology and Wild Animal Health, as well as research programmes.
