Overview

University of Gloucestershire

The University of Gloucestershire has been offering high quality education to students from all over the world for over 170 years.

Located in the beautiful South West of England, the Roman city of Gloucester and the regency town of Cheltenham are surrounded by the picturesque Cotswold countryside, Gloucestershire has something for everyone from chic shopping to the great outdoors. With ideal locations giving easy access to the countryside the university creates a great student experience in terms of balancing study with leisure.
The locations means that in your free time you're never far from a nightclub, great country pubs, bars and Inns or great shopping in Cheltenham and Gloucester.

The University of Gloucestershire has three main student campuses. One campus is in Gloucester and two are in Cheltenham.
The Gloucester campus is Oxstalls. The two Cheltenham campuses are Francis Close Hall and The Park.
Some students study at more than one campus but this doesn't present a problem as they are linked electronically, and there is also a frequent bus service.

As well as offering a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and short courses across the three campuses, the university boasts an excellent student support framework. Helpzones are located on each campus that provide advice on accommodation, chaplaincy, student finance and welfare as well as medical support.
Our university libraries are located on each campus and contain a wide range of academic resources both in print and electronic editions. Students also have open access to IT facilities, integrated learner support and quiet study spaces.

The University of Gloucestershire puts great emphasis on skills that are appropriate for the work environment. This commitment is supported by the Centre of Work Based Learning. This facility can be used by students and potential employers to establish work placements and work experience. This gives the students greater credibility and employability; and allows the university to build contacts and develop relationships with a wide range of organisations and businesses.

The Students' Union is an integral part of life at the university; the SU not only includes a radio station and a newspaper but also includes the vast array of sports clubs and societies on offer to all students. The SU also runs the action packed social calendar including the Freshers' and Summer Ball.

If you have concerns about money at university the SU Jobshop is at hand, with all the latest local part-time jobs available and suitable for while you are studying.

The university believes its future is bright and has recently invested over £5 million in improving facilities including a special design studio space, a new media hub and refurbished recreational spaces such as the refectory and bar.
The university's commitment to sustainability has led us to be acknowledged as a sector leader and consistently placed in the top five in the People and Planet green league table since 2008. We work to embed sustainability across courses, plans and activities resulting in a promising future for all our students through education.
