Your first step made easier
Beginning your UCAS application can be daunting: it marks the first stage of your Higher Education journey. Deciding on where to spend the next three years living and learning is undoubtedly a difficult choice.
Our short and easy steps will help you to simplify the process and make your own informed decision.
Be prepared!
It’s never too early to start researching and the internet is your most valuable tool, providing an encyclopaedia of universities at your fingertips. You can find profiles, guides and independent rankings, plus forums, where students past and present are discussing university life.
Make your shortlist.
Start to think about which universities might work for you. As well as your degree, it’s important to consider other factors such as the campus location, where you might be living and the extra-curricular societies that you might want to get involved in.
Visit Open Days!
This is an essential start of the process; it’s a chance to really gather your own impression of a university. Make sure you make the most of these visits; as well as taster lectures and seminars, visit halls of residence and student life zones, where you can really get a feel of life outside of the classroom.
Listen and learn.
Although the decision should always be your own, the benefits of a second opinion are invaluable. Parents, aunties, uncles and friends can all give experienced and impartial advice on the matter, or even just listen carefully to your options!
Thrive of five!
Choose the final five universities that have come out on top. Your winners should be those that balance their appeal in the quality of the degree and where you think you will be most comfortable. Our top tip: Play it safe! Don’t dismiss your insurance choice: an insurance is your assurance of a higher education!
Finally… make this year count!
Your final year of A-Levels is your pathway to Higher Education, so working hard will unendingly pay off!
