Overview

Aston University, Birmingham

Welcome to Aston University, a stimulating and enjoyable place to study. We pride ourselves on providing a modern, supportive, multicultural environment and we are committed to giving our students the opportunity to achieve their full potential. The stories are true, our graduates do amazing things.

Students from over 120 countries choose to study at Aston University - a safe and friendly campus enjoyed by a global, multicultural community. Birmingham is one of the UK’s most diverse cities and home to an unrivalled cultural heritage, top sporting events, music, performing arts and outstanding world cuisine.

We’re #1 for Added Value. Comparing our students’ entry grades (A Levels/BTECS/IB etc) with their final degree result shows the quality of our teaching. We’re ranked us 1st in the UK by this measure (Guardian, 2020).

Students Union

Aston students have voted our new SU building into the shortlist for a WhatUni award, based on over 40,000 reviews. This means we're in the Top 10 Student Union facilities in the country, according to the 2020 WhatUni Awards. The SU was also one of only three university buildings across the UK shortlisted for the 'Buildings That Inspire' category of the Guardian University Awards 2020.

Student Support

Our dedicated student support teams are here for you. Whether you have questions about your studies, accommodation, finances or something else – the team in The Hub is ready to assist. And if you have concerns about mental health, our Counselling and Wellbeing team offers the support and guidance you need. Additionally, our Enabling Team gives advice and support for students with disabilities, including ongoing health conditions and learning differences.

Careers and Placements

Our Careers and Placements team is always on hand to help you find the perfect opportunity to kickstart your career or prepare for those vital graduate job applications. Whether you’re looking for a placement year in a workplace setting, a study placement overseas or you want to explore teaching, our team has the connections and knowledge to give you a head start. We believe the Aston Placement is what helps our students achieve such great career outcomes. 79% of Aston graduates secure graduate level jobs or further study within six months of graduation (Complete University Guide, 2020).
