Additional info

The best way to get a feel for a place is to visit in person. We hold four Open Days during the summer, giving you the chance to visit the campus to see the facilities, our colleges and accommodation and all the amenities. Staff across every department are on hand to answer questions and offer advice about our courses, the Students’ Union will offer their insights into the social side of life, and you can meet plenty of our current students to get their perspective on our collegiate system and the Lancaster University experience. Even grabbing lunch or a drink on campus will give you a feel for whether Lancaster is the place for you.

Lancaster University

Lancaster University is among the best in the UK. Ranked in the top in all three major national league tables, it is also highly ranked in international league tables such as the QS World Rankings.

Lancaster University was named University of the Year by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018. It also took the top spot for Best Campus University and Best University in the North West. Lancaster has been the top university in the North West of England for over a decade and its sixth-place ranking in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019, as well as the winning of the coveted award of University of the Year award for 2018, cements its place as an elite UK university.

The results of the 2018 National Student Survey #reveal that 88 per cent of Lancaster University students are satisfied with their course - compared with a national average of 83 per cent. This puts Lancaster in the top 10 of UK universities for student satisfaction. It is further evidence of the high quality of the student experience at Lancaster and follows on from a Gold Award in the Teaching Excellence Framework, which measures teaching quality alongside employment outcomes and programme completion.

In recent years over £250 million has been invested in the campus buildings and facilities since 2010, with a further £360m planned in the next five years. The accommodation on campus is highly regarded by students. Lancaster University accommodation has been named Best University Halls in the prestigious National Student Housing Awards seven times since 2010. The awards is a measure of student satisfaction that compares peer institutions as well as private providers of student accommodation.

Lancaster is 3rd in the UK for graduate-level employment in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019, with 89% of Lancaster students going into professional work or further education after graduation.
Lancaster is one of only a small number of leading UK universities to operate a college structure. All students (and staff) join one of our nine colleges. Each college has its own history and traditions, creating a more supportive student environment and opportunities to get involved in a wide range of activities.
