Lancaster University is among the best in the UK. Top 10 in three major national league tables, Lancaster is also highly ranked in international league tables such as the QS World Rankings.
Out of over 120 UK Universities, Lancaster are ranked 7th by The Guardian University Guide 2020 and The Complete University Guide 2020 and 8th by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020. In the QS World Rankings Lancaster ranks 128th out of more than 1,000 universities. As well as being highly placed in the rankings, Lancaster was awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2017. The Gold award reflects success in offering high quality teaching, excellent teaching facilities and the good careers graduates go into. Lancaster are 3rd in the UK for graduate-level employment in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019 and Complete University Guide 2020 with 89% of Lancaster students going into professional work or further education after graduation.
Lancaster is one of only a small number of leading UK universities to operate a college structure. All students (and staff) join one of the nine colleges. Each college has its own history and traditions, creating a more supportive student environment and opportunities to get involved in a wide range of activities. In the National Student Housing Awards 2019 Lancaster's accommodation was awarded Best University Halls. This is the eighth time Lancaster have won this award since 2010.
The Lancaster University campus in North-West England occupies a beautiful 560-acre green site, just three miles from Lancaster City Centre. Across the campus, the university offers exceptional learning facilities, from the labs and lecture theatres in faculties, to the multi-million pound sports centre and outstanding library facilities. Most new undergraduates choose to live on campus in their first year. The campus itself has an array of facilities including shops, banks, hairdressers and coffee shops. A short bus ride takes students into Lancaster. A place compact enough to walk around as well as offering everything you would expect from a modern city, with plenty to see and do, from busy shops and a vibrant nightlife to cultural attractions and beautiful parks.
