Profile

Living in London

Being a student is a special experience. It is a thriving, multi-ethnic and multilingual environment. It’s the UK centre for Law, fashion, finance, the arts and technology.

LSBU’s excellent transport links makes us a minutes’ walk to the Underground and a short bus ride from some of the best places in the city, including Covent Garden, Tate Modern and the British Film Institute. Not only that, but we are minutes away from some of the most exciting cultural centres in the city like the South Bank, Borough Market and Bermondsey Street.

Elephant & Castle

LSBU’s Southwark campus is in Elephant and Castle. E&C is without a doubt one of the most up-and-coming areas in London; there’s so much to see and do within a short walk of the campus. Being here means you’ll have access to sights, attractions and nightlife.

The Elephant & Castle, the pub that named the area, has been around in one form or another since 1765. Mercato Metropolitano is an outdoor covered food hall that has everything from an in-house cinema, to craft beer, an urban farm and cooking classes. Looking for something more upbeat? Ministry of Sound is one of our noisiest neighbours, and the bars and clubs of Borough and London Bridge are just down the road. If history is more your scene, the Cinema Museum is a short walk away, as is the Imperial War Museum and its impressive grounds.

Halls of Residence

Our Accommodation Service is here to help make it comfortable, welcoming and hassle-free. There’s an easy online application service – just visit www.lsbu.ac.uk/apply-accommodation.

You can rent from LSBU and you’ll deal directly with the university, not third party providers. That means we can guarantee you options to suit all budgets, with clear tenancy agreements and all-inclusive rents that include insurance for your personal belongings, internet access in each bedroom and on-site laundry facilities. Or, if you’d rather rent privately, we can give you a list of landlords – just ask our Accommodation Service.

Student life

University isn’t just about getting a degree. It is about meeting new people, trying new things and having a great experience.

Whether you are living at home or moving here, being based in E&C is a great experience. Our halls of residence are all based within 10 minutes of campus, helping you feel safe, secure and at home at LSBU.
