The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is an international, multi-campus university offering an employment-focused course portfolio of over 300 undergraduate programmes and 200 postgraduate courses.
The University’s main campus is based in Preston, with others located in Burnley (East Lancashire), Westlakes (West Cumbria), and even Cyprus.
We have recently invested £200m in transforming our Preston Campus, giving you access to excellent teaching facilities in bright, modern surroundings. This includes a stunning brand-new Student Centre at the heart of campus, incorporating social spaces and all the services you need to support you in your studies. Our new Engineering Innovation Centre is an advanced, state-of-the-art £35 million facility providing an integrated space for teaching, research and direct links with industry allowing you to work on live, real-world projects with commercial partners.
Committed to having a healthy campus, the majority of UCLan students are eligible for free sports membership. For Preston Campus students this includes the four-storey indoor Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre on campus, and the outdoor sports arena, which houses an international-standard athletics track, cycle-track, all-weather football and hockey pitches, tennis and netball courts, alongside facilities for strength and conditioning. We also offer free sports membership for Burnley students at the local St Peter’s Leisure Centre.
UCLan students develop advanced skills and knowledge which are highly desirable to employers. An impressive 95.5% of UCLan students enter employment or further study within six months of graduating (HESA Employment Performance Indicator 2018).
The University also has close links with more than 1,000 regional employers and enterprises, covering a multitude of industries, giving you extensive opportunities to gain practical work experience through long-term work placements, short-term internships and study abroad programmes.
The University has been named the top university in the North of England for producing start-up businesses, and is ranked fifth overall in the UK (Tide, 2021).
