We have impressive, modern facilities across our campuses. We are home to one of the UK’s best teaching observatories, as well as a £15 million sports village and fully functioning mock law court. The latest addition to the university’s estate is a high quality science building with over 3000 sq m of lab space.
The computing and technology facilities include a specialist robotics lab, flight simulators, Formula One car simulator and a Smart Systems laboratory. In our Creative Arts building you’ll also find Film and TV studios, 2D and 3D workshops and computing facilities. Our Clinical Simulation Centre is the largest in the UK and helps our students to learn in a realistic clinical environment.
The university’s two Learning Resource Centres are open 24/7, giving you round-the-clock access to 800,000 books – including 300,000 online eBooks – as well as 3,000 study spaces and 1,300 computer workstations. The online learning environment, StudyNet, will give you access to course materials and resources, customised to suit your study programme.
Make new friends
Going to university is a brilliant chance to spread your wings and live independently for the first time. Living on campus is also a great way of meeting other students and making new, lifelong, friends. We have a fantastic range of halls on campus so you're always close to the social and learning facilities you need. If you need family accommodation, we can give you advice and information on renting in the private sector.
As part of its 2020 Estates Vision, there has been a lot happening on the College Lane Campus over the last few years. An exciting £120 million project has provided 2,500 brand new bedrooms which are situated in sustainable carbon-zero buildings.
Inside the halls of residence there are self-contained flats each with single study or (less commonly) twin bedrooms. These rooms are either en-suite or share a bathroom with a handful of others. There are also a small number of single studio rooms, separate to the flats. These have their own small kitchen and bathroom. The student accommodation is well equipped and you only need to bring your own bedding, towels, cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and tea towels. Fridges and microwaves are provided in the communal kitchen areas.
Our accommodation has been awarded Best Student Housing 2017 at the CUBO awards and Highly Commended in the Student Accommodation Awards 2016.
Feel safe and supported
We are here to make sure you have the best experience possible while living in halls of residence and have Student Support Officers or Resident Assistants on hand to help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including Christmas and Bank Holidays.
