We have exciting plans to build new campuses in Cumbria , creating outstanding state-of-the-art facilities for our staff, students, and local communities. These symbolic landmarks have been designed to innovate and inspire, with courses developed in partnership with local employers to provide our students with fantastic career opportunities.
Carlisle Citadels
Our latest transformational project will see the construction of a new flagship campus within the city of Carlisle. Retaining the historic architecture of a former medieval fortress, the Carlisle Citadels campus will include a modern, multi-purpose, 200-seater lecture theatre as well as a café, exhibitor space and the Carlisle Business Exchange Centre.
Cumbria’s New Medical School
In partnership with Imperial College London, we will be opening a medical school in Autumn 2025, which is proposed to be based at the new Carlisle Citadels campus.
The school will train new doctors for Cumbria and the North West to improve the region’s access to world-class clinical care. This partnership will unite Imperial College’s world-renowned medical school with our expertise in the education of nurses, midwives and allied health professionals.
Barrow Learning Quarter
Cumbria is home to a thriving manufacturing hub, and our upcoming Barrow campus is set to build on this by delivering degree programmes that help meet the growing demand for skilled engineers in the region.
Our Barrow campus will be positioned in the heart of the Barrow Learning Quarter, an exciting project that will transform the area into a great place to study, work, live and visit. Courses in Advanced Manufacturing, Computer Science and Business Management will be delivered at our Barrow campus in partnership with BAE Systems.
