The City and Student Life

Coventry University

The UK City of Culture 2021, Coventry is a vibrant, multicultural and affordable city located in the centre of the country. With a range of shops, cafés, museums, theatres and sports venues, plus cinemas and a live music scene, there’s something for everyone.

Coventry is easy to walk and cycle around. The railway and bus stations are a 10-minute walk from campus with regular local and intercity services, and Birmingham Airport is a 20-minute journey by road or rail. Birmingham city centre, Warwick Castle, and historic Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare’s birthplace) are all under half an hour away.

The centre of student life is TheHub; it’s a place to gather, grab a coffee with friends, have a delicious meal, enjoy a band or just hang out. There are also more than 100 clubs and societies that students can join and 40 sports teams – a great way to make new friends. For students who choose to work part-time while studying, Coventry University also has its own campus recruitment agency: thefutureworks.

Enjoy a night out at Kasbah

For live music and club nights, there’s nowhere better than Kasbah Nightclub, Coventry’s famous music venue, with a mixed array of genres. Students can catch well-known acts performing live, and attend club nights playing anything from R&B to disco funk.

The Ricoh Arena
Home to Premiership Rugby team Wasps, this venue is like no other! With live music, food, a casino and exhibition spaces inside – entertainment is limitless.

The Tin Music and Arts
This independent venue is dedicated to delivering an innovative and diverse line-up for students and puts on film, music, comedy, visual arts events and lots more. This is the perfect venue for creative students.
