Additional info

This annual event is the largest and most popular on-campus visiting opportunity in the RVC calendar. The day will offer in-depth pathway presentations and the opportunity to speak with lead academics and passionate Student Ambassadors from the RVC's three undergraduate pathways: Biological Sciences, Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Nursing. To ensure that all areas of the RVC are represented on the day; professionals from Accommodation, Admissions, Learning and Wellbeing and the Students' Union will be on-hand to share their insight through informal conversations. There are a multitude of activities simultaneously running throughout the day, such as campus tours, behind the scenes access to hospital facilities, the chance to undertake hands-on clinical skills, rare access to Boltons Park Farm and also accommodation viewings. This access-all-areas Open Day offers the opportunity for you to envision what being an RVC student is like; to help you decide whether the RVC is your best fit.

The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) is one of the world’s leading specialist veterinary institutions, renowned for pioneering approaches to teaching, research and cutting edge clinical provision. It is the largest, oldest and only independent veterinary school in the UK. Founded in Camden Town in 1791, it was the driving force behind the establishment of the nation’s veterinary profession.Since then, the College has been at the forefront of theory and practice in the veterinary and allied sciences. The RVC has been ranked as number one veterinary school in the UK and Europe through the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2020.

Spread over two campuses, the College provides approximately 1,600 undergraduate students with the best of both worlds in terms of student experience. Its Camden Campus offers the buzz of being based in the heart of the nation’s capital; while in contrast, the 575 acre Hawkshead site near Potters Bar in Hertfordshire offers a more rural experience. Throughout both campuses, students enjoy a friendly, supportive environment with state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and learning.

The RVC currently offers BSc programmes in Biological Sciences, Animal Biology, Behaviour, Welfare and Ethics, and Bioveterinary Sciences, all with the option of a Certificate in Work-based learning and Research. These are recognised and accredited by the Royal Society of Biology respectively. Our MSci options in Biological Sciences, Bioveterinary Sciences, Applied Biological Research, Applied Bioveterinary Research and Wild Animal Biology, involves an extensive and in-depth research project in the fourth year.

We offer the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVetMed) with an option of an intercalated year, Graduate Accelerated BVetMed, Veterinary Gateway, and Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc). All these degrees are fully accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association, and is accredited by the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education. Our courses have also received full recognition by the UK’s Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and we have a reciprocal arrangement between the RCVS and the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council Inc.

On offer at undergraduate level are the FdSc and BSc in Veterinary Nursing, both of which are fully accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and the Accreditation Committee for Veterinary Nurse Education.
