WHY STUDY AT UCA
Oscar winning filmmakers, world renowned fashion designers, television presenters, celebrity jewellers and Turner Prize nominees are just some of the high-profile graduates from the University for the Creative Arts. UCA is a top 25 ranked university and the highest ranked specialist university for the creative industries in the UK. We have a long history of nurturing creative minds, which is why 94.5% of our graduates are employed or in further study within six months of graduating. And with the creative industries currently employing 1.9 million people in the UK – a number which is still growing – we know that all kinds of businesses are looking for talented, highly skilled graduates.
As a specialist creative arts university, we have created a unique community for our students, where like-minded people can share in the creative process and inspire one another. Collaboration between courses is encouraged, with fine artists studying with budding filmmakers and fashion designers working alongside architects. In this way, our students benefit from exposure to a range of disciplines.
Choosing to study with us will give you the freedom to discover your own personal style through a winning combination of industry-focused courses, specialist creative facilities, and inspirational expert staff.
Our Canterbury campus is a short walk from the city centre and has a range of purpose built studios, workshops and lecture theatres. The campus offers courses in Architecture, Fine Art and Graphic Design and is home to a vibrant Further Education department that runs the popular Foundation Diploma, Extended Diploma and Access to Higher Education Diploma. Attractive seaside destinations such as Whitstable, Herne Bay and Margate are only a short bus or train ride away, and you can even hop on the Channel Tunnel and travel from Folkestone to Calais in just 35 minutes.
With on-campus accommodation, a café, a newly refurbished bar and a range of art facilities including a specialist library, an art shop and the Herbert Read Gallery, the campus is a relaxed and creative environment to study in.
If you’d like to find out more about our courses and our uniquely creative communities, why not visit us on an Open Day? You can meet academic staff and students, attend subject talks, get expert portfolio advice, and take a tour of the campuses, facilities and accommodation.
Attending one of our Canterbury Open Days will give you the opportunity to experience just what it’s like to be a student here.
