At York St John University, we have been changing lives through education since 1841. We offer a range of inspiring undergraduate and postgraduate courses, many of which include placement and study abroad opportunities. You can learn in a welcoming and supportive environment and become part of a close-knit community. Our careers team offer tailored advice and support throughout your studies even after graduation.
95% of our students were in work or further study 15 months after graduating (Higher Education Graduate Outcomes Data, 2021).
Our students love the sense of community they feel on campus. The Students' Union (SU) is a great place to relax with friends and attend various social events throughout the year. The SU is home to a bar, Starbucks coffee shop and the Students’ Union team offices. With over 60 sports and societies to get involved with, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Our campus is close to the city centre of York and our students can explore everything the city has to offer. We were voted 36th for overall student satisfaction out of 122 universities in England (National Student Survey, 2021).
We have been shortlisted as a finalist for University of the Year 2022 in the What Uni Student Choice Awards (WUSCA) 2022. This reflects our status as a higher education provider across the United Kingdom.

Campus and Facilities
Our 11-acre campus is close to the city walls in the historic city of York. In recent years we have made £100 million transformations to our facilities to give our students the best environment for their studies. Our facilities include specialist teaching spaces and food and drink outlets. Fountains Learning Centre, our 24/7 access library and resource facility, is split over 3 floors with a dedicated team to provide you with a range of support. We have a number of spaces on campus for worship, reflection and meditation. These include The Chapel, Contemplation Room, Muslim Prayer Room, and a Quiet Room. We welcome all members of the University in our sacred spaces.
Just over a mile from our main campus you will find our Haxby Road Sports Park. With an indoor Sports Centre and 57-acres of outside space, it's a unique facility available to our students and wider community.
Our Sports Park includes:

- An indoor sports hall
- 100m sprint track
- Specialist strength and conditioning suites
