Additional info

Our programme is delivered as a fully online distance learning provision, allowing you to pursue your studies part-time and at your own convenience. You have the flexibility to take this programme as a stand-alone qualification or alongside part-time employment. By completing this programme, you will attain a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (without the QTS element). This award is highly recognised in a wide range of educational settings. The programme consists of two modules that will enable you to critically analyse learning and teaching practices. In doing so, you will gain knowledge and understanding of the key theories of learning and teaching, as well as the ability to reflect on their practical application in your chosen setting. The modules are delivered in a highly interactive and engaging manner, through the advanced VLE Blackboard site. You’ll have the opportunity to connect and become part of a vast learning community, expanding your network, and collaborating with like-minded people. Overview

About the University of Cumbria

We are Cumbria’s university. Whatever you want to be, whatever you want to achieve, we’re here to help you pursue your passions and realise your true potential. When you start your story with us, you’ll stay ahead and go far in your chosen career.

At the University of Cumbria, we offer hundreds of specialised degrees across health, sports, social work, teaching, business, law, science, conservation, manufacturing, computing, arts, media, outdoor studies, policing, and more, giving you the skills, knowledge, and experience to achieve your dreams.

Why Cumbria?
Not that we’re biased, but we say with confidence that we’re a truly great university that has an impact on the lives of our students and puts them at the heart of everything we do. Here are just a few reasons why you should start the next chapter of your story with us.

An education that is personalised
We give you the facilities of a larger university within a more intimate and personalised setting, providing you with high-quality teaching and amazing student support. Our academic staff will get to know you, your skillset, and the bespoke mentoring you need to take the next step in your journey. At Cumbria, you are never just a number; your lecturers will know you by name.

A degree that will advance your career
We enable you to start your future with confidence. 97% of our graduates go into employment or further education within 15 months of graduating (HESA, 2023), and we’re also the top university in the North of England – and 6th in the UK – for producing alumni company founders (Novuna Business Cash Flow, 2023).

The opportunity to study in inspirational surroundings
With campuses in Carlisle, Lancaster, Ambleside, London, and Barrow-in-Furness, we pride ourselves on taking inspiration from our roots to educate and nurture the next generation. Our incredible locations include World UNESCO sites as well as countryside, coastal, and city surroundings. No matter which campus you study at, you'll benefit from a real "home from home" experience.

Support with all areas of student life
Coming to university is such an exciting time, but we know it’s a big step and that you may need additional support and guidance so you can make the most of your university experience. That’s why our expert teams are on hand to assist you with all aspects of student life, be it finance, wellbeing, disability, inclusivity, or something else.
