When you join Southampton, you become part of a welcoming community of over 24,500 students. Our people are at the core of our University, we celebrate individuality, everyone here is respected, supported and heard.

You’ll automatically become a member of our Students’ Union, SUSU, one of the largest in the country. Run for students, by students, SUSU’s purpose is to help you make friends, support you during your degree, and give you a voice in the University and the wider community.

There are over 350 clubs and societies to explore, from beekeeping and campaigning to performing arts and mountaineering. SUSU hosts a wide range of events including roller discos, pub quizzes and karaoke nights in our on-campus pub, The Stag’s.

Our £50million investment into our sports facilities, means you’ll benefit from our inclusive and modern spaces, featuring a cutting-edge TechnoGym with over 200 stations, a dedicated spin studio and even a climbing and bouldering wall. We’re home to one of the biggest Athletic Unions in the country, from basketball and sailing to bouldering or kitesurfing at our watersports centre.

Our 260-seat student-run cinema, Union Films, shows a huge variety of movies, with tickets starting at just £4. If you’re on Highfield campus for a late-night study session in the library or on a night out at SUSU, the safety bus will drop you home for free, even if you're based at our Winchester campus!
