Each college has its own history and traditions, creating a more supportive student environment and opportunities to get involved in a wide range of activities. Lancaster's accommodation has been named Best University Halls in the National Student Housing Awards seven times since 2010. In the 2019 Whatuni Student Choice Awards, based on thousands of UK student reviews, Lancaster placed 5th out of 131 UK universities.

The Lancaster University campus in North-West England occupies a beautiful 560-acre green site, just three miles from Lancaster City Centre. Across the campus, the university offers exceptional learning facilities, from the labs and lecture theatres in faculties, to the multi-million pound sports centre and outstanding library facilities. Most new undergraduates choose to live on campus in their first year. The campus itself has an array of facilities including shops, banks, hairdressers and coffee shops. A short bus ride takes students into Lancaster. A place compact enough to walk around as well as offering everything you would expect from a modern city, with plenty to see and do, from busy shops and a vibrant nightlife to cultural attractions and beautiful parks.
