In the QS World Rankings Lancaster ranks 128th out of more than 1,000 universities. As well as being highly placed in the rankings, Lancaster was awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2017. The Gold award reflects success in offering high quality teaching, excellent teaching facilities and the good careers Lancaster graduates go into. Lancaster are 3rd in the UK for graduate-level employment in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019 and Complete University Guide 2020 with 89% of Lancaster students going into professional work or further education after graduation.
Lancaster is one of only a small number of leading UK universities to operate a college structure. All students (and staff) join one of the nine colleges. Each college has its own history and traditions, creating a more supportive student environment and opportunities to get involved in a wide range of activities. Lancaster's accommodation has been named Best University Halls in the National Student Housing Awards seven times since 2010. In the 2019 Whatuni Student Choice Awards, based on thousands of UK student reviews, Lancaster placed 5th out of 131 UK universities.
The Lancaster University campus in North-West England occupies a beautiful 560-acre green site, just three miles from Lancaster City Centre. Across the campus, the university offers exceptional learning facilities, from the labs and lecture theatres in faculties, to the multi-million pound sports centre and outstanding library facilities.
