Out of over 120 UK Universities, Lancaster is placed 10th in the Complete University Guide 2026, 11th in The Guardian University Guide 2025 and 12th in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025. Lancaster University has been awarded 5 Stars for overall performance in the globally renowned QS World Ratings. The evaluation features 5 Stars rating for each category – teaching, employability, global engagement, research, facilities, subject ranking and environmental impact.

Every Lancaster student receives careers support from day one to graduation and beyond. Lancaster is one of only a handful of UK universities to have a collegiate system. We have nine colleges in total, and every student (and staff member) belongs to a college. Your college is where your first friendships are formed, it is your university family. Your college is the first place to go for any support with staff on duty around the clock, ready to help.

We have over 200 different student-run clubs and societies, from sports and fitness focused to performing arts, and subject related societies that can help you to increase your knowledge and professional network. The Lancaster University campus is a beautiful 578-acre green site situated just three miles from Lancaster city centre, and located at the very heart of England’s beautiful North-West region. Our campus is home to everything our students need for the full student experience and benefits from continued investment, with the very best study and learning facilities, world-class sports facilities, shops, and a variety of places to relax and socialise including our college bars and social spaces.

A short bus ride will take you into Lancaster, a friendly city with lots of culture, shops, parks and nightlife to explore and experience. We are surrounded by some of the UK’s most beautiful landscapes including the Lake District and just a short (approximately an hour) train journey away from bigger northern cities like Manchester and Liverpool.

As you go through your course at Lancaster, you'll always have the chance to focus on your future and you'll have academic employability tutors to turn to, ready to offer advice or point you in the right direction. For lots of our students, there's a chance to get a taste of professional life with work experiences or internships. We can also help you find a part-time job to fit around your studies.
